Still photos of my performance piece LEAP.
January 27,2000
The space was a darkened gallery with a lighted runway. At one end of the gallery space was a 4' x 5' slab of slate. For over 2 hours I attempted to leave my footprints on the slate by repeatedly leaping onto it. Spectators could view the work through a window in the gallery door and on a closed circuit B&W monitor. My heartbeat and the sound of my bare feet hitting the slate were projected into the hallway over 4 speakers. Towards the end of the performance I began to falter and cramp. The performance concluded when I was physically exhausted. I left no mark, besides sweat, on the slate.
The photos go right to left in a sequence.
